Tulare County Superintendent of Schools Tim A. Hire Elected as 2026-2027 President of California County Superintendents

Sacramento, CA - (July 1, 2026) – Tulare County Superintendent of Schools, Tim A. Hire, has been elected as the 2026-2027 President of the California County Superintendents, after serving as President-elect this past year. The California County Superintendents support the 58 county superintendents of schools across the state, working together to promote, influence, and advocate for a high-quality education for all public students in California.

Tim was elected as Tulare County Superintendent of Schools in 2019 and has served nearly 30 years in K-12 education as an agriculture teacher, principal, and district superintendent. He is especially proud to have spent the majority of his career in superintendent roles, leading at that level for so long while never losing sight of students as the north star of his work. 

“I am honored to have been selected by my colleagues to serve in this important role. With many upcoming changes in education and governance, I have never been more excited about what’s ahead, and how we, as county superintendents, can continue to lead during this pivotal transition. More importantly, I have the honor and great responsibility to advocate for all students in our state and carry their voice into these conversations to improve opportunities and outcomes for all of them,” Hire said. 

Superintendent Hire assumes the role of President as of July 1, and his term will end on June 30, 2027. Joining him on the 2026-2027 Executive Committee for the California County Superintendents is President-elect Michael Davies-Hughes, Humboldt County Superintendent of Schools, and Todd Finnell, Imperial County Superintendent of Schools, who will serve as the Immediate Past President. Krystal Lomanto, San Benito County Superintendent of Schools will continue as Treasurer, and Nicole Glentzer, Mendocino County Superintendent of Schools, will serve as State & Federal Legislative Committee Chair.
