Description

The TSC Legislative Subcommittee tracks state and federal legislation corresponding to the California County Superintendent legislation priorities in the area of technology. The subcommittee provides a forum in support of California County Superintendent for the deliberation about legislation and/or the establishment of positions on current issues related to cyber security, accessibility, data privacy, and technology services and resources for local educational agencies.

Description

The Disaster Recovery Subcommittee was created by the TSC in 2019 in direct response to the Camp Fire / Paradise USD disaster that destroyed the district’s infrastructure and nearly led to the total loss of all student data. The subcommittee’s mission is to help all K-12 technology departments to prepare for and recover from a minor or major disaster, preventing data loss and ensuring agencies can continue functioning after a disaster strikes. The Subcommittee has created a Disaster Preparedness Checklist, a Disaster Recovery Guide, and a Disaster Recovery Plan Template that has been provided to all districts and COEs to assist their technology departments with developing a comprehensive technology Disaster Recovery Plan.

Description

The TSC Cybersecurity Subcommittee provides a forum for members to share information security practices and strategies, review and implement cybersecurity technologies and frameworks, and to engage in awareness and advocacy activities, and provide solutions, guidance and resources to our districts and charter schools with the aim of protecting student, staff, and operational data.
