The Curricular and Improvement Support Committee (CISC) initiates collaborative leadership with school districts, the CDE, and other partners to ensure programs, practices, and services that support success for all students. The committee identifies statewide curriculum and staff development needs, provides a communication and implementation network for curriculum and professional development activities, and assists the CDE in adopting and implementing instructional materials and developing publications such as curriculum frameworks.

The purpose of the CISC Early Learning Subcommittee is to provide leadership and support COEs and districts to promote articulation and smooth transitions between preschool and early elementary. Our work focuses on developing and disseminating early learning resources to support state, regional, and local efforts to promote a P-12 continuum.

Description

The CTE Committee supports the intermediary role COE’s play in connecting CTE programs between preschool to adult, community colleges, four year schools, and other post-secondary options, WIOA boards and economic development entities. Support districts as they develop the LCAP in the area of College and Career Readiness. Provide advice to CDE on college and career measures in support of the CA School Dashboard and College and Career Indicators.

The purpose of the CISC Health Education Subcommittee is to build the capacity of COEs to support high quality, skill based health education that advances the health literacy of ALL students, which positively impacts their learning as well as their physical, mental, and social emotional well-being. Efforts include facilitating and sustaining a state level community of practice, as well as sharing professional learning opportunities and resources that support the implementation of the Standards and new Framework.

The purpose of the Computer Science and Digital Learning Subcommittee is to provide leadership and support to COEs and districts to maximize the effective use of digital resources in teaching and learning programs and to increase equity and inclusion in computer science instruction through effective implementation and integration of the California Computer Science Standards.

Description

The CISC Arts Subcommittee supports COEs in supporting the California Arts Framework and the 5 arts disciplines. The Committee works in close conjunction with the California County Superintendent Statewide Arts Initiative as well as partner organizations such as the CDE, Create CA, and the California Arts Project, among others.
